Minted Millennial's Tools
I use E*Trade primarily for my Individual Brokerage Account. E*Trade offers a lot of functionality for any type of investor, from options trading to retirement, it has something for everyone. It includes extensive research, commission-free trading, and excellent tax reporting tools at your fingertips.
This is a fantastic brokerage for beginners. I started off on Robinhood because of its easy-to-use mobile interface and lack of commission fees. I would recommend moving away from this as your portfolio grows, as it's functionality is limited.
I use Fidelity Investment's 401k account through my employer, and although I'm not a huge fan of mutual funds, my 401k is invested in a mutual fund through Fidelity that offers relatively low fees. Fidelity has nice retirement planning tools and top-notch research tools.
Money Management Apps
Personal Capital has grown to be one of the most popular financial management tools, and for good reasons. It has a sleek dashboard that offers budgeting capabilities, investment analytics, and cash flow management. Connect all of your accounts to get a nice big-picture overview of your finances to help you plan for your future.
Mint is an Intuit financial management app that is both free and easy-to-use. I use this primarily for its budget tracking function, which allows you to set limits in different spending categories, such as Restaurants, and it'll automatically send you notifications when you start to overspend in that category. It has many other functions as well, and can be used in tandem with other tools.
Albert was the first financial management app that I started using. Although it isn't free, I have found it extremely useful in helping me track my expenses and my various accounts. It's Genius function automatically sends you useful financial advice that's relevant to you, and gives you an option to text a financial adviser with any questions you have. They often get back to you quite timely.
I have been very happy with CIT Bank as my high-yield savings account of choice. I primarily use the Savings Builder account which has a nice interest rate of 1.80%, making it an excellent place to park your emergency fund. With CIT Bank, you can also open a CD, Money Market, checking account, and more! I highly recommend CIT Bank!
TurboTax's platform takes much of the headache away from doing your taxes. I have used TurboTax for 5 years now and have never had any problems from them. Despite this, there is a lot of controversy over TurboTax's unethical business tactics. I will most likely be moving on from them when I report for 2020, but since I have been happy with their services I still recommend them! Get a 20% discount on deluxe when you use my link to sign up! Credible offers a wide range of services, particularly in the realm of helping you find the best possible options for student loan refinancing. On Credible, you will be able compare various lenders that you qualify for without a hard credit check. I personally have not used Credible's services for student loan refinancing, but I know people that have gone through Credible and have found it very useful for finding the right lender!
I use Cloudways for my website's cloud hosting. I previously was on Bluehost, but found out that they are subpar when it comes to hosting. I switched to cloud hosting and my site speed ended up doubling. I've been very satisfied with Cloudway's ease of use, customer support, price, and site speed improvements.
WordPress is the obvious choice here. Pretty much every successful blog uses WordPress, along with many other common companies such as Sony, Disney, and yes, Snoop Dogg. Sure there's a learning curve to it, but luckily there's about a million and a half Youtube tutorial's out there for your benefit. If you're thinking about starting a blog or website, I highly recommend WordPress.
Astra has proven to be a great theme for Minted Millennial. I use the free version, but it provides me with everything I need so that I don't have to invest in a web designer. If you're looking for a quality theme, I recommend using Astra.
